Pilates Princess Or Muscle Mami? You NEED To Be Both!

The options are endless when it comes to choosing your workout routine, we typically have our pilates or yoga girlies, gym girlies or our runners. But here’s our food for thought, do you combine a mix or stick to one genre?

It’s a common trend to see a divide when it comes to soft, gentle, body weight workouts like our pilate princess’ compared to our heavy lifting, music pumping, muscle Mami’s. Now what would happen if you combined the two.

We wanted to note down the benefits of weight training vs pilates movements to make it easy for us indecisive girly's.

Benefits of Weight Training:

  1. Increased Muscle Mass and Strength: Weight training is highly effective for building and maintaining muscle mass. Enhancing physical strength and boosting your metabolism for that added fat loss.
  2. Burns more calories: Working with weights or equipment adds burn to your workout, making it harder to complete reps, resulting in higher calories burned.
  3. Improved Functional Fitness: Strength training enhances your ability to perform daily activities, from carrying groceries or babies to climbing stairs, making everyday tasks easier.
  4. Customisable Workouts: You can tailor weight training to your specific goals, whether it’s building mass or toning muscles.

Benefits of Pilates:

  1. Improved Core Strength: Pilates emphasises core stability, which is crucial for posture, balance, and overall body strength. Nothing beats pilates strength.
  2. Increased Flexibility: Pilates incorporates stretching and controlled movements, improving flexibility and reducing the risk of injury.
  3. Mind-Body Connection: Pilates encourages mindfulness and body awareness, helping you develop better control over your movements and breathing.
  4. Low Impact: Pilates is gentle on the joints, making it an excellent option for people recovering from injury or those with joint issues.
